History is a very broad area of study where you students have the chance to study the past, and better to understand the present. History students can build the skills of critical analysis, reasoned argument, research and communication and presentation. As Aristotle said:

“If you would understand anything, observe its beginning and its development.”

History students after completing this degree will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Develop the ability to distinguish between fact and fiction while understanding that there is no one historical truth.
  • Produce well researched written work that engages with both primary sources and the secondary literature.
  • Develop an informed familiarity with multiple cultures.
  • Ability to employ a full range of techniques and methods used to gain historical knowledge.
