Religious Studies: A Way 2 Learn

Religion is what, serves us well at every step of our life, we find religion everywhere we turn. From the beginning of time, humans have engaged in activities that we now call religion, such as worship, prayer, and rituals marking important life passages. Throughout history, Religion has expressed faith, values and the deepest questions human beings can ask.

In nineteenth century, Social, economic, and political intellectual environment  gave birth to the discipline of religious studies. In its early years, it was known as  the Science of Religion or Comparative Religion. Later, during twentieth century  the study of religion truly flourished and had emerged the term “religious studies” became common and interest in the field increased.

Students graduating with a Religious Studies major or minor often ask this question, “How important Religious studies are?”

As an academic field, religious studies help students to shape, sustain and transform themselves. Religious studies provide opportunities for students to express, investigate, and grow in their own religious faith and also allow students to examine and analysis the beliefs of different cultures.

In a long run, it will also help you to better live and work in our increasingly diverse society and global world. Students of religion go on to careers in a wide variety of fields including teaching, medicine, social service, law, journalism, international business, diplomacy, and, of course, religious professions of various kinds.
