Linguistics

The Linguistics major has been designed to introduce students to four major areas of the discipline namely: Linguistics, Language, Communication, and Media studies. The program offers the students the opportunity to develop skills for language presentation, technical communication, multimedia communication, interpretation and translation.

The objectives of the program are to develop skills for discovery and application of language and linguistic knowledge among the students. Train students to apply and use language and communication knowledge in various media communication techniques.

Learning Outcomes

Students are expected to demonstrate:

  • The ability to formulate theoretically interesting and tractable research questions.
  • The ability to identify sources of data relevant to answering their research questions.
  • Knowledge of analytical methods to apply to the data they have collected.
  • The ability to bring the results of their data analysis to bear on their research questions.
